Under-Hood Structural Bracket
An under-hood bracket carries pumps, control modules, ducts, or reservoirs while seeing heat, vibration, road splash, and assembly load. The material decision is controlled by stiffness after conditioning, heat-deflection behavior under the actual load case, fatigue at ribs and bosses, and resistance to the fluids present in its exact vehicle zone.

Component material package
A recommended grade per component, drawn from the Nexeo catalog. Recommendations are engineering assessments; a cited property links the choice to data we hold for that grade.
| Component | Recommended grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
Load-bearing bracket Carries static and vibration loads between mounting points | Ultramid A3WG6 Polyamide (PA66-GF30) | A glass-reinforced PA66 is a conventional engineering starting point for stiff ribbed brackets; this grade also has producer-cited dry and conditioned modulus values in the catalog, so moisture-state validation can be planned rather than ignored. Cited: Tensile Modulus |
Heat-shield side carrier Maintains geometry nearer localized radiant heat | Ultramid A3U42G6 Polyamide (PA66-GF30 FR) | A heat-stabilized, glass-reinforced polyamide candidate suits the higher-temperature side of the assembly, subject to the OEM fluid and thermal-aging schedule. |
Isolation grommet Decouples vibration and protects the mounted component | Santoprene 121-70W175 Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV) | A TPV gives a compliant isolation feature that can be molded separately or designed as an overmold after adhesion and compression-set validation. |

Validation & compliance path
- OEM material specification and restricted-substance requirements
- IMDS material declaration before production approval
- ISO 16750 environmental loads for the installed location
Engineering watch-outs
- PA66 properties change with moisture state; validate dry-as-molded and conditioned parts.
- HDT is load-case specific. Do not compare or qualify a bracket using an unqualified single temperature.
- Glass-fiber orientation makes shrink and stiffness directional; gate location belongs in the structural analysis.
